A few Internet Sources

Unfortunately, many of the old sites we used to recommend have vanished into the ether (perhaps under the weight of Web 2.0 and Facebook pressures...?), and so this list is nowhere near as exhaustive as it once was.

However, if you are aware of any sites which we should list here, please let us know.

Pagan Community resources

For community resources I would have to refer you to the "big three":

Bookmark these sites, and visit them often.

For information on our local area of the West Country, try Twisted Tree - or for the West Midlands and Birmingham area: The Pagan Association. Details of a few of the moots in our area can also be found in our Moots, Groups and events page.

Another resource that we have found ourselves using regularly (well, about 8 times a year actually...) is the web-based e-zine: Cauldrons and Broomsticks. This is a zine published 8 times a year at each of the sabbats, providing information, essays, recipes and even a pagan agony aunt! A very good site.

"Traditional Wicca" sites

We've met many people over the Internet, and developed very close relationships with many of them. Key amongst these were Dianis and Ari (who for 7+ years ran the Oathbound and Alexandrian Initiates-only discussion list). They have since handed over stewardship of these lists, and closed down the "Starkindler" website - but we still remember them with fondness!

  • Amber and Jet: mailinglist and Yahoo group run and mediated by Elders in the Tradition, providing "an open, intelligent, and topical forum for initiates, elders, and sincere seekers of modern British Traditional Wicca"
  • Brighdes Fire Coven Home of the British Traditional Wicca Ring, run by the Elder of another English Coven like ourselves, and a local Pagan Federation contact.

If you visit any of these sites, send them our greetings!

Sites for/by Gay Pagan's

We have been trying to find a sites that are specifically aimed at Gay and Lesbian pagans for quite a while. Some of the best that we have found are listed here:

One of the best pages we have come across in a long while is "Wild ideas" by Lynna. This is a site by a very thoughtful and eloquent Sister in the Craft; her essay "Alternative currents: revisioning polarity" is one of the best I've read. A site for everyone interested in the Craft, regardless of gender or sexuality.

Finally "The gay pagan Haven", has come back to us from the mists (thanks Lynna for the URL). There's reviews, resources and essays aplenty there too.

If you visit any of these sites, send them our greetings!

Other Pagan and occult sites

One site in particular any student of the Craft will find interesting is the website of the Museum of Witchraft. Even moreso - take any chance that you have to go and visit them in Boscastle (England) - it really will be one of the most amazing experiences of your Magickal life...!

There is also the list of the favourite sites given by the 150 respondents to "The Craft and the Web" survey. A word of warning though: none of these sites have been evaluated by us - this is just a list of those sites given by the respondents; as such we cannot vouch for any of the quality of any of them, nor for the accuracy of any of the URLs...

Community groups

In the "real world", there are several groups that organise meetings, discussion groups and festivals - all of which are excellent places to meet, network and exhange ideas and information with other pagans and witches.

For details of these worldwide, you could try the "Witches of the World" listings at the Witches Voice; in the UK the main group is the Pagan Federation - who also publish the "Pagan Dawn" magazine, which includes a listing of local groups and moots throughout the country.

Details of local moots are also provided at Twisted Tree and The Pagan Association. We also provide details of the moots and public rituals in our area in our Moots, Groups and events page.

If you are specifically interested in finding a Coven or working group - and pursuing training within the British Traditional Craft - then see you should also read our essay "Finding a Coven" in the Elders section.
